Kansas City Temple

We have been so blessed to have a temple built so close to us. It is still a bit of a shock every time I think about the fact that there is a temple in Kansas City! We were able to go to the open house and it was wonderful to see Aiden making the connections about what goes on in the temple and what he has learned at church. When I asked him what he liked the most about the temple the first thing he said was the mirrors in the sealing room. We talked about how you could see forever in the mirrors and how they are just like our family. We can be together forever because Mom and Dad were sealed in the temple. He also talked about the chandeliers in the Celestial room. He said that room just made him feel good. During the walk through Kian had been a bit fussy and kind of loud. Not really crying but just not happy. When we got into the Celestial room he was very quiet and alert. That made a big impression on Aiden and he has told me a couple of times that he thinks Kian was quiet because he knew it was a special place.

I was also able to volunteer at the open house. I took Kian with me so I just helped make sure the water table had plenty of cups, but it was so amazing to see people coming in who had just been through the temple. So many of them were not members and it was amazing to see them learning that a temple was more than just a beautiful building. A lot of people told me that they thought our belief in eternal family was so unique and wonderful. I kept saying it is a wonderful blessing and going to the temple is a great reminder of what is most important in our lives. I know a few boys that make my life wonderful and eternity wouldn't be complete without them.

I am very much looking forward to getting to go through for a session!

Brothers

On a daily basis Aiden asks me when Kian will be able to play with him. He means run around and be crazy, but they are already playing together. Aiden played Doctor with Kian and Kian loved every minute of the attention from his big brother.

Kian's First Video

This video was taken the day after Kian was born (January 5th)
We had the lights low so we could get him opening his eyes.

Welcome Kian!

We are so excited to finally have Kian here!
He is a sweet guy. His little personality is already coming out. He loves to snuggle, detests getting his diaper changed and being cold. He likes to know someone is ne
arby all the time and likes to hear Aiden talking and singing to him. Aiden likes making faces at Kian and watching Kian make them back. If Aiden sticks out his tongue Kian will too. Aiden thinks it is hilarious and Kian wiggles his legs and smiles when Aiden laughs.
Here are a few more pictures of our new little guy:

Where is time going so quickly? And Trip to the Children's Museum

How can it possibly already be October? I'm less than one week away from starting the third trimester and we still haven't picked out a name for our new little guy! I even had a dream that the baby could talk to me through my stomach and still wouldn't tell me what name he would like.

I've been trying to be good about getting pictures (since I did it with Aiden). Although I think I am not all that cute pregnant. My skin gets splotchy, my hair goes limp and won't curl or do anything else, and I always look tired. Hopefully these pictures are small enough that no one is looking that close! It's about time to take another one.

24 Weeks

On September 24th we all headed over to the local Children's Museum for a free day at the museum. It's a pretty cool place. Aiden loved the shadow wall. You stand up against a wall and a light flashes and then you can walk away and still see your shadow on the wall. Unfortunately, you can't really get pictures of it. But I got pictures of everything else.

Aiden continues to love preschool, and his first parent teacher conferences are coming up in about two weeks. So are his first school pictures. It's been amazing to see how much he learns and how much some outside influence can do. He tried cucumbers with snack because one of the other kids said they loved cucumbers, and guess what? Aiden likes cucumbers. Go figure, I've been trying to get him to try them forever!

Aiden's Birthday Week

Aiden wanted a car theme birthday this year. He was really excited about decorating and it was fun to see what he thought would be neat. He helped me make the banner. I made it so that the cars can come off so we can use it again.

Aiden also had very definite opinions about the cake. It had to have 5 cars since he was turning 5.

We got Aiden a bike and he got to ride it for the first time.

Some other snapshots from the party:

On Aiden's actual birthday on Wednesday we went over to a local place called Zonkers. I had a pass for him to play in the bouncy houses and he had a blast.

Aiden wanted me to take a video of him reenacting one of his favorite clips from Mythbusters where they slip on banana peels. Unfortunately our camera doesn't take great video, but oh well!
Here is the mythbusters clip:

Here is Aiden's version:

The party was a get together with family because Aiden had requested going to the zoo instead of having friends over. So the Saturday after his birthday we headed to the Kansas City Zoo.
